Community Learning
Adult returners
It is never too late to learn and at Dumfries and Galloway College, we are particularly keen to welcome applications from adult returners. We wish to actively encourage adults to attend on a full time or part time basis, or as an Open Learning student. We have the facilities, courses and support to suit your particular needs. For some, returning to study at College can be a daunting prospect, so special introductory courses are run to help those returning to study to feel more comfortable. Subjects covered include: confidence building, study techniques, an introduction to computers, communication skills and basic numeracy and literacy.
Widening access to learning Opportunities
Dumfries and Galloway College strives to be as flexible as possible and we understand that it is not always convenient for you to travel to College. That is why we also bring the College to you - into the community where you live and work with our Open and Online Learning Programmes; Mobile Learning Facilities (iVAN) and a range of individually designed programmes of study that allow progression to more advanced courses. We also work with a range of partner organisations to deliver learning throughout the region.
Open / Distance learning
Choose where you learn - with the Colleges flexible approach to study you can learn from home with tutor support on many programmes. We recognise that support is important and you will also have access to the staff in the Library / Open Learning Unit who can help with practical queries. You are welcome to make full use of the Colleges Libraries and Learning Zones as well as other student support facilities.
