Microsoft Excel

You may already be using Excel but at a fairly basic level. It was assumed that you already knew how it worked so you’ve never had any training to structure your knowledge. This course will give you the confidence to explore the many facets of the world's most widely used spreadsheet programme.

This one-day online course aims to give the Excel user all the basic skills that they need to be able to use Excel with confidence.

Tips are included on how to use Excel efficiently, and you will learn how to layout spreadsheets and create charts.

Course Content

This online course is tutor-led will cover the following areas:

  • Excel familiarisation;
  • Understanding columns, rows and Excel navigation;
  • Entering text and numbers;
  • How to create formula (includes order of operation);
  • How to use autofill;
  • Using relative and absolute addressing;
  • How to format information in a spreadsheet;
  • Using auto sum and aggregate functions;
  • How to create charts;
  • Chart editing and formatting;
  • How to save workbooks and
  • Creating PDFs from workbooks.

Microsoft Excel is enormously powerful and flexible and has a reputation as the most widely used spreadsheet application.

Very few users venture beyond the basics and as a result don’t exploit the benefits of this formidable application.

This one-day course seeks to improve proficiency with Microsoft Excel and is suitable for those who can create and format simple worksheets and use basic formulae. It includes working with multiple worksheets, adding database capabilities, split screens and more Excel functions. It also takes charting a step further and introduces passwords to Excel.

This one-day course takes the skills learnt in the Introduction to Excel and Intermediate Excel courses and moves to look at some more advanced Excel tools. It is particularly suited to those who use Excel as a means of modelling data to find solutions to problems.

Introduction to Power BI**

This two-hour tutor-led course covers the essential skills in Power BI: extracting; transforming and loading data into a data model, then visualising it with a rich set of graphics, charts and dashboards.

Power BI is an effective business tool for small and medium sized businesses which can help you:

  • analyse data so you can see which of your markets are thriving and where sales are sluggish;
  • track sales growth in all, or a single market, quarter-wise, if necessary.
  • see where expenditure is rising and
  • help you figure out which products are selling well, and which ones are not getting a good response from your markets.

Pre-requisites

Attendees should have knowledge of Excel, with some familiarity with Excel Pivot Tables and Excel Functions like SUMIFS and VLOOKUP. People with Database, Programming, or other BI experience will be qualified for the course even if they do not have direct Excel experience.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • understand what Microsoft Power BI can do;
  • install the Power BI desktop app;
  • import data sources into Power BI desktop and connect to Excel and other data locations;
  • work with visualisation panes to create reports and
  • sort and format data.

INTRODUCTION TO POWER BI DESKTOP - Computing & IT

An Introduction to Cyber Security

With cybercrime on the increase and the majority of businesses across the region stating that they do not feel fully equipped to deal with cyber security threats** this course will provide you with an understanding of common cyber security threats and how to mitigate them.

And as almost half of all data breaches involve small and medium sized businesses* it is important to take steps to keep your business and employees safe online.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • understand and identify threats such as Malware, Phishing, Ransomware, and internal and external threats;
