Care Start (YPG)

Introduction

This is a fully funded course for those between 16 – 24 years old that is aimed at those who are looking to gain employment within the care sector and will provide delegates with some relevant skills and qualifications to assist them in gaining employment. Delegates will undertake 4 certificated short courses that are either essential, or useful within the care sector:

SQA Award in Emergency First Aid at Work – This is a practical course, which aims to provide basic emergency first aid training.

The Principles of Moving & Handling People – Delegates will learn the principles to move & handle people safely within a care setting to minimise any risks.

Highfield Level 2 Award in Prevention & Control of Infection for the Workplace – This qualification is is aimed at anyone working in any industry needing to develop their underpinning knowledge of how to prevent and control the spread of infection in their workplace.

REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene – This course is aimed at all food handlers and is recommended by the local Environmental Health Department.

Optional extra – access to online remote learning materials. Exploring Job Opportunities, Preparing for Interview and CV Writing.

On successful completion, candidates will receive certification for each short course.

Day 2 – Highfield Level 2 Award in Prevention & Control of Infection, 09:00 14:00

Day 3 – SQA Award in Emergency First Aid, 09:00 – 16:30

Additional funding information

Fully funded through Young Person Guarantee for those between 16 – 24 years old that are not currently in employment. College students and school pupils are eligible to apply.
