EV Charging - Electric Car

Introduction

This City & Guilds qualification aims to provide expert guidance to learners wishing to gain knowledge and understanding on Electric Vehicle charging equipment installation.

The course is aimed at practising electricians interested in understanding how to install the range of equipment and systems available.  It covers the specialised installation requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment in public, private and commercial locations and includes exclusive guidance on electrical requirements.

With the increasing demand for new electric charging points and an expectation that this demand is to continue to grow, there's never been a better time to gain the qualification that will allow you to install electric vehicle charging equipment to help roll them out towards net zero.

This course will run for 2 days between 9am and 4.30pm each day.

Entry Requirements

To study this course, you should be 18 years old or above.

There are no formal entry requirements, however this course is aimed at practising electricians who must be able to correctly install and terminate:
  • PVC/PVC cable (twin and earth)
  • Steel Wire Armoured cable (SWA)
  • Carry out an initial verification (inspection & testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork.
You must also be familiar with the current Wiring Regulations.

Course Content

During your study you will cover a range of knowledge and skills across areas including inspection & testing and handing over of electrical vehicle charging equipment.

Assessments

You will be assessed by an online multiple-choice test and a practical assignment.

Career Prospects

This course will allow you to progress on to a career in installing electric vehicle charging equipment. This equipment is crucial in the roll out and mass-market adoption of these new, sustainably-powered vehicles. It is expected that 95% of all new cars bought by UK consumers will be electric vehicles by 2040.
