Electrical Installation SVQ @ SCQF Level 7
This programme seeks to provide you with a broad based knowledge of electrical installation work, the appropriate skills to carry out wiring tasks in the work environment and to give you a general understanding of relevant regulations in preparation for a career as a qualified electrician.
This course is only available to employed Electrical Apprentices. No formal entry requirements, however, all apprentices must pass an industry approved aptitude assessment, which includes a colour vision assessment and be in relevant electrical employment.
All applicants must attend an Information and Interview Session prior to being offered a place on the course.
This course is only available to employed Electrical Apprentices.
If you are currently studying at the College, you will also require a positive Progressing Learner Reference.
Information and Interview Session Requirements
This is a key aspect of the application process. You must confirm your attendance should you be offered an Information and Interview Session.
During the Information and Interview Session, we will ensure the entry requirements and your aspirations and career plan are appropriate for the course and the level of course you have applied for. It is therefore important that you prepare well for this.
Stage 1: Contributing to Quality and Communications; Electrical Principles and Technology, The IEE Wiring Regulations and related notes of Guidance, Installation of various Wiring Systems.
Stage 2: Principles of Earthing, Distribution and Wiring Systems Inspection and Testing of Installations, Installation of Electric Motors, Hazardous Installations and Illumination.
Stage 3: Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations.
This programme leads to qualified electrician status.
You will be employed by local contractors and your initial career will be with the employer carrying out the supervised installation of electrical wiring and associated equipment.
