One of the following: 4 National 4s, 4 Standard Grades at 4 or above or 4 Intermediate 1s. Or successful completion of the Introduction to Engineering and Renewable Energy course.
Entry may still be possible for mature students depending on prior skills and knowledge.
You will be required to attend an information and interview session with the course tutor prior to being offered a place on the course and industry accredited.
If you are currently studying at the college, you will also require a positive progressing learner reference.
Information and Interview Session Requirements
Once we have received your application you will be asked to attend an informal information and interview session. This may be in person, virtual either through TEAMS or by phone but remember to tell us all about yourself in your personal statement!
This is a key aspect of the application process. You must confirm your attendance should you be offered an appointment.
During the information and interview session, we will ensure the entry requirements and your aspirations and career plan are appropriate for the course and the level of course you have applied for. It is therefore important that you prepare well for this.
This programme seeks to combine the development of practical skills with underpinning knowledge to enable successful candidates to develop and sustain a career in the engineering industry or to study at higher level.
Assessments can be practical in workshops, reports, e-learning, online as well as written assessment.
Successful completion could allow progression on to the Engineering Systems and Wind Turbine Technician Training Course, Mechanical Engineering Course, Modern Apprenticeship, full time/part time HNC/Diploma course in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Moving into a modern apprenticeship in Mechanical, Fabrication & Welding or Electrical Engineering, trainee fitter position as a modern apprentice or progression to additional FE or HE courses as above.
