Financial Accounting PDA @ SCQF Level 7


The Professional Development Award (PDA) in Financial Accounting offers individuals the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required for a finanical supporting role within an organisation.
The PDA is suited to individuals wishing to study on a part time basis whilst in employment in the sector. It is also appropriate for adult returners to education.
It will provide individuals with personal and professional development opportunities and provide a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) vehicle for individuals who are employed within the accounting sector.




3 hrs per week

Entry Requirements

Individuals should be able to demonstrate good communications skills and be able to show an aptitude for studying at SCQF Level 6 or above. Applications will be discussed on an individual basis dependant on prior experience.

Information and Interview Session Requirements

Once we have received your application you will be asked to attend an informal information and interview session. This may be virtual either through TEAMS or by phone but remember to tell us all about yourself in your personal statement!

This is a key aspect of the application process. You must confirm your attendance should you be offered an appointment.

During the information and interview session, we will ensure the entry requirements and your aspirations and career plan are appropriate for the course and the level of course you have applied for. It is therefore important that you prepare well for this.

Course Content

The award offers learners the opportunity to attain the Professional Development Award in Financial Accounting.

Units may include: Management, Recording Finanical Information, Using Financial Accounting Software, Preparing Financial Statements.


Assessments are ongoing throughout the duration of the award.


Completion of the award may lead to progression of further study by completing a relevant HNC such as HNC Accounting or completion of more PDA's.

Career Prospects

The award will prepare individuals for employment within the accounting and business services sector in positions such as Accounts assistants or financial Administrators.

Fees will be discussed on an individual basis. You may be eligible for a part time fee grant.
