Foundation Apprenticeship - Creative and Digital Media @ SCQF Level 6


You will learn about many different types of careers that are available in the Creative Industries but with a particular focus on Digital Media and Marketing, using both traditional and emergent platforms. You will learn to effectively research and develop ideas and to work collaboratively with peers from across the region and potential employers. You will have the opportunity to discover, first hand, what soft skills and technical skills employers are really looking for today.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific qualifications for this course, but applicants will go through a semiformal
recruitment process and should be able to demonstrate their ability to work at SCQF level 6. There is a need for good English/Communication Skills to be successful on this course particularly at this level. Your application will be reviewed by people who know the course/industry well. You may be able to demonstrate this through National Qualifications, part-time employment or be able to demonstrate a genuine passion for this are of work – or a combination of.

NB: we may also refer to teachers in your school for a recommendation.

Course Content

The course is an innovative mix of two parts. Firstly, there are four units taught ‘in class’ which provide a broad understanding of the variety of dynamic areas that the Creative Industries in Scotland has to offer. There are a further five units which are completed as part of an industry placement and are designed to provide work-based experience including marketing and social media skills, culminating in a realistic final media project set in conjunction with the employer.
