Hairdressing SCQF Level 6 (Modern Apprenticeship)

Introduction

Modern Apprenticeships are a great way of gaining skills, qualifications and experience and starting a career without having to study full-time. You can be earning whilst you are learning! This is an opportunity to work towards an industry recognised qualification whilst you are learning ?on the job? and it?s a great way to kick-start your career.

Hairdressing skills are essential to the effective and efficient performance of organisations across the sector and once you have completed your Modern Apprenticeship you will have shown that you have the ability, the work skills and the determination to succeed.

Duration

Level 3 can be completed over 12 months.

Entry Requirements

You must be in full-time employment and aged 16 years or over and have completed and achieved Level 2 in Hairdressing

Course Content

Assessors attend the work place on a regular basis. Depending on the nature of each assessment to be carried out, the duration of how long the assessor will be with each candidate will vary on each visit. Assessors will assess competency and can advise and guidance on any work that may be required. A specified level of Core Skills are required as part of the Modern Apprenticeship. As well as more specific learning around; creative cutting and using a combination of techniques, monitor procedures to safely control work operations, promote additional services or products to clients, provide hairdressing consultation services. You also get to choose some of your own learning, your assessor will help you consider the units which suit your needs best. Assessors attend your work place on a regular basis; the length of visit will vary depending on which assessment is being done. Assessors will assess your competency and advise and guide on any work that may be required.

Assessments

Assessments take the form of written and practical assignments, which are integrated throughout the duration of the programme. Written assessments are carried out by the candidate in their own time under the guidance of the assessor. Candidates will be required to attend College to sit on-line tests upon the completion of each unit.

This Modern Apprenticeship is funded through Skills Development Scotland.
