Additional Entry Requirements
Information and Interview Session Requirements
Once we have received your application you will be asked to attend an informal information and interview session. This may be virtual either through TEAMS or by phone but remember to tell us all about yourself in your personal statement!
This is a key aspect of the application process. You must confirm your attendance should you be offered an appointment.
During the information and interview session, we will ensure the entry requirements and your aspirations and career plan are appropriate for the course and the level of course you have applied for. It is therefore important that you prepare well for this.
Please remember that you are required to bring a portfolio of work with you to your information and interview session. This can be a digital copy or prints. Please be prepared to discuss why and how you produced the creative work in your folio.
Reviewing your portfolio will help our specialist staff to give you the best advice on which level of study and course is right for you at this time.
Applicants who do not bring their portfolio will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
You may be asked to complete a skills test as part of your interview.
The programme may include the following units: Architecture, Advertising, Documentary, Fashion, Advanced Image Editing, Moving Image, Stock, Social Photography, Exhibition, Digital Videos for Artists and Designers and Creative Industries an Introduction. The course content is subject to change.
All SQA HN awards conclude with a graded unit. This is your opportunity to shine and complete an independent project that is graded A, B or C pass. Students review their strengths and agree on a set of projects that enable them to concentrate on a specific photographic sector.
Assessments are practical and written.
Successful completion of the full HND Photography course will allow entry into the second or third year of a university degree course in photography or specialist area.
Successful students could find employment in a range of photographic careers including self-employment or photographic roles such as advertising, corporate, fashion, press, editorial, curating, picture research, fine art practice etc.
