Introduction

Interested in Watersports? this exciting new course which will allow you to gain a variety of skill and gain a qualification. You will gain practical on the water experience including kayaking, rowing, paddle boarding, sailing, coastal rowing…. You will learn key skills, these include volunteering, employability, customer service, sporting events and dealing with facilities and equipment. The course will help you gain confidence through a range of practical and theory led activities, giving you important skill for your future career.

Course Content

  • Assist with a Component of Activity Sessions
  • Employment Opportunities in the Sport and Recreation Industry
  • Assist with Fitness Programming
  • Assist with Daily Centre Duties

Duration: 10 Weeks

Dates: Week beginning the 22nd of August until the 7th of November

 

The course will consist of one day per week of practical activities at Stranraer Watersports Association, and 3 hours of taught delivery per week at Dumfries and Galloway College (Stranraer Campus), you will also be set work to complete in your own time.

Assessments

Assessments will be practical and written.

Progression

This course can be used as a stepping stone to study a full time Sports and Fitness programme at DGC or to progress into employment.
