Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS)

SAAS (Student Award Agency Scotland) is the national funding body for Scottish and EU Students in Higher Education (HE). Students studying at HNC or HND Level should apply directly to SAAS for their funding.

If eligible SAAS will pay your Tuition Fees directly to the College and provide additional financial support such as:-

  • Student Loan
  • Bursary
  • Care Experienced Bursary and Accommodation Grant
  • Dependants Grant
  • Lone Parent Grant
  • Disabled Student Allowance (DSA)

The application process opens in April. To ensure funding is in place at the start of your course, please submit applications no later than 30th June with all requested evidence.

Further information and the online application form is available www.saas.gov.uk. You can apply to SAAS with an unconditional or conditional place.

Tuition Fees Full Time HE Courses

Tuition fees are not paid automatically by SAAS and you must apply annually and directly to SAAS. The College will bill students for tuition fees not paid by SAAS.

If you already hold a qualification at the same level, or above, the course you are applying for then contact a Student Adviser on 01387 7343064/65 to discuss implications this may have for your funding. You can also contact SAAS directly on 0300 555 0505.

If your circumstances mean that you are not eligible for SAAS funding for tuition fees then you will need to arrange to pay your tuition fees to the College. Instalments are available upon request. Please contact the finance team on 01387 734068 for further information.

No Instalment option will be available if a student defaulted on a previous instalment plan.

Tuition Fees Part Time HE Courses

If you earn £25,000 or less then help towards the cost of your Tuition Fees is available. The amount of fee grant you can apply for will depend on the course and number of SCQF credits undertaken.

You can successfully apply for the SAAS Part Time Fee Grant even if you already hold a University Degree as previous study is not taken into account and it will also not impact any future SAAS funding.

To check if you are eligible and to apply for funding please visit www.saas.gov.uk/parttime. Please remember that it is the student’s responsibility to apply for funding for each academic year of the course. Applications should be submitted as soon as you have had confirmation that you have secured a place on the course.

Additional Financial Support

The College offers additional financial support through the College Discretionary Fund & Childcare Fund. Students will receive links by email to apply for these funds when they have secured a place on the course.
