8 December 2021
A Dumfries and Galloway College student has been selected for Team GB ahead of the ice hockey world championships.
HND Fitness, Health and Exercise student Liam Stenton is currently in Brasov, Romania with the U20s British team as they prepare to take on teams from around the world.
Liam completed an HNC with the South of Scotland college before moving on to the HND programme and has been a student in Dumfries for three years.
This will be the third time Liam has represented the United Kingdom, having previously been selected for the U16, U18, and U20 teams.
When not representing the United Kingdom, Liam plays in defence for the Solway Sharks in Dumfries.
Dumfries and Galloway College is incredibly proud of Liam and wishes him and the entire Team GB squad all the best as they take to the ice in Romania.
Principal Joanna Campbell said:
“Liam is a wonderful young man with a bright future ahead of him.
“To qualify for Team GB as many times as he has is a testament to his ability and dedication to his sport.
“I would also like to send our best wishes to Liam and his teammates for the upcoming competition and let them know that everyone back home will be cheering for them.”
