College Makes Donation to Local IT Charity

Dumfries and Galloway College has donated a large amount of IT resources to a local charity that promotes the benefits of learning how to use the internet.

The South of Scotland college has given 25 Linx tablet computers, two Lenovo Yoga laptops, six monitors, an iMac, and a collection of other devices to the worthwhile cause.

An astute member of the college spotted a Facebook post by the IT Centre calling for donations and encouraged their colleagues to consider what could be donated.

Luckily, the items donated had only recently been retired as they were no longer compatible with the upgraded college IT infrastructure and so made the perfect donation.

Dumfries and Galloway College is delighted that its pre-owned technology will be finding a new home with a brilliant local charity and will be used to help those who want to build their digital skills.

Principal Joanna Campbell said:

“Digital skills and promoting reusing and recycling are key principles for Dumfries and Galloway College so making this donation is exactly in line with our values.

“By making this gift, we’ve allowed the technology that no longer fits our needs to be used by someone else and are actively supporting the IT Centre in promoting digital skills in our region.

“As a college, we are proud of our record of working with charitable organisations, and other stakeholders, like the IT Centre, to promote our common vision of a sustainable and highly-educated South of Scotland.”
