Students Gain Practical Experience in Twin Factory Visits

College Academy students from Dumfries and Galloway College have been out visiting local businesses to see first hand the work that they do.

The students, who are still in school but work with the college one afternoon each week to gain experience of college life, are on a Foundation Apprenticeship course were warmly welcomed at Cochran Ltd and Berry BPI, two important local businesses.

Their first visit, led by lecturer Alan Laurie, saw the 12 students receiving a tour of the Cochran Ltd factory and an in-depth explanation of how its boilers are made and distributed around the world.

At Berry BPI, students met the managers of the recycling plant and learned how waste polythene film from farm waste is recycled into LDPe pellets.

Dumfries and Galloway College thanks both businesses for their continued working partnership and for providing this valuable experience to its students.
