Introduction

Already passed CeMAP Module 1 and ready to move forward? This Module 2 & 3 course helps you build the mortgage knowledge you need to finish your CeMAP training.

This online training is designed to help you develop the knowledge and practical understanding needed to work with mortgage products in a UK financial services setting.

In Module 2, you’ll cover the key areas assessed in the next stage of CeMAP, including mortgage product types, the application process, lender requirements and affordability, protection options, repayment methods, and what happens after completion. FAQS

What does a Mortgage Advisor do?

A Mortgage Adviser (also called a Mortgage Broker) helps people find and arrange a mortgage. They assess a client’s situation, recommend suitable options, compare deals, speak with lenders, and support the client through the application process.

Is it worth becoming a Mortgage Advisor in the UK?

It can be a rewarding path if you enjoy working with people and solving real problems. The role often involves building relationships and supporting clients through big financial decisions. Mortgage Advisors who have completed the CeMAP training course and hold CeMAP certifications typically earn around £40,000, rising to £75,000+ with experience and commission.

Is it worth doing CeMAP?

CeMAP is widely used in the mortgage industry. It builds the knowledge you need and adds credibility when applying for roles. Furthermore, you can’t become a Mortgage Adviser without first gaining the CeMAP qualification.

Is the CeMAP course valid in Scotland?

CeMAP is a widely recognised mortgage qualification that can be studied and used across the UK, including England, Wales, and Scotland. Although the learning and assessments are based on the England and Wales syllabus, the Scottish framework for mortgage regulation is closely aligned, so you can complete our CeMAP course and progress into a mortgage advice role in Scotland without needing to retake any modules.

What is CeMAP equivalent to?

CeMAP is equivalent to Level 3 and is similar to an A-level standard.

How to prepare for CeMAP?

Start by understanding what each module covers, then plan your study time. Break topics into smaller sections, take clear notes, and focus more time on the areas that carry more marks. Make sure you understand relevant FCA rules and guidance. Use revision tools and practice questions to build confidence.

How long does it take to complete this CeMAP module?

It depends on your schedule and experience, but many learners complete Modules 2 & 3 in less than 6 months.

What happens after CeMAP?

Once you complete all three modules and pass the exams, you’ll achieve your CeMAP qualification.

To work as a Mortgage Adviser, you can start in an employed role where you’ll be continually supervised while you build experience. To advise independently, you’ll need Competent Adviser Status (CAS). Without CAS, you cannot operate on an independent basis.

If you want support getting there, we can help connect you with a broker so you can work towards CAS. Contact us for more information. If you’d like to specialise further, you can progress to the Certificate in Regulated Equity Release (CeRER).
