City & Guilds 2391-52 Award In Inspection & Testing

Introduction

This qualification helps you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally carry out inspection and testing on electrical installations. It is aimed at practicing electricians who wish to gain qualifications in periodic inspection and testing as well as initial verification of new systems.

This course replaces both the City and Guilds 2394 and 2395 qualifications.

Entry Requirements

  • Entry Requirements

    • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Applicants must hold relevant Level 3 electrotechnical qualifications.
    • Applicants must have substantial practical experience working within the electrotechnical sector.
    • Applicants must be up to date with current industry requirements and working to the latest 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
    • Evidence of current 18th Edition knowledge must be provided, such as a City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) certificate.

    Supporting evidence of the above requirements must be provided when booking. Failure to submit the required evidence may result in your place on the course being delayed, cancelled, or refused.

    Important: This qualification is not suitable for learners who are new to the electrotechnical industry or who do not have the skills, knowledge, and experience required to carry out inspection and testing safely and competently.

    DGC will carry out a thorough initial assessment before enrolment to ensure that all applicants meet the entry requirements.

  • A valid UK passport
  • A full or provisional UK driving licence

  • Safety of systems and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning
  • Inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service

  • Factors that affect conductor resistance values
  • Common earth fault loop paths
  • Methods for verifying protection
  • Requirements for determining fault current
  • Procedures for dealing with clients

  • One 60 item 2hr Open Book multiple-choice test (online)
  • 3 practical tasks
  • Short 4 item question paper
