City & Guilds 2391-52 Award In Inspection & Testing

Introduction

This qualification helps you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally carry out inspection and testing on electrical installations. It is aimed at practicing electricians who wish to gain qualifications in periodic inspection and testing as well as initial verification of new systems.

This course replaces both the City and Guilds 2394 and 2395 qualifications.

Entry Requirements

You must be over 18 years old and up-to-date with industry requirements.
It is essential you have a good up to date understanding of BS 7671: IET Wiring Regulations

This qualification is intended for experienced professionals in the electrotechnical industry. It is not suitable for individuals who are new to the sector or who lack the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to carry out inspection and testing safely and competently.

Applicants should already hold relevant Level 3 electrotechnical qualifications and have substantial practical experience. Those with limited industry experience should not apply.

DGC will carry out a thorough initial assessment to ensure each applicant meets the entry requirements before enrolment.

Important Notice for All Course Attendees To attend and complete the course, you must bring valid photographic identification. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • A valid UK passport
  • A full or provisional UK driving licence

  • Requirements for testing energized installations
  • Requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation
  • Safety of systems and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning
  • Inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
  • Commissioning electrotechnical systems and equipment
  • Health and Safety requirements
  • Relevant documentation
  • Factors that affect conductor resistance values
  • Common earth fault loop paths
  • Methods for verifying protection
  • Requirements for determining fault current
  • Procedures for dealing with clients

  • One 60 item 2hr Open Book multiple-choice test (online)
  • 3 practical tasks
  • Short 4 item question paper
