Introduction
This half-day refresher course is designed to help qualified first aiders maintain their confidence and competence in delivering effective first aid. In line with HSE recommendations, annual refresher training ensures that essential skills remain sharp and up to date, reducing the risk of skill fade and improving emergency response in the workplace.
This course is ideal for those who have completed a full First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification and wish to refresh their skills annually.

Entry Requirements

Learners must hold a valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate

Must be physically able to perform practical tasks, including CPR at floor level

Minimum age: 14 years (recommended 18+ for workplace roles)

Course Content
Learners will revisit and practise key first aid procedures through a mix of theory and hands-on activities. Topics include:

Managing an unresponsive casualty

Performing CPR and using an AED

Placing a casualty in the recovery position

Responding to choking incidents

Conducting scene and casualty assessments
Assessments
Learners are evaluated through three practical assessments conducted during the course. These assessments are:

Observation-Based: Trainers observe learners performing essential first aid procedures such as CPR, recovery position, and choking response.

Performance Criteria: Each skill is assessed against specific standards to ensure competence and confidence.

Real-Time Feedback: Trainers provide guidance and feedback throughout to support skill development.
