This course will further develop the skills and knowledge you will need for a career in sports coaching and/or sports development. Together we will examine the principles of good coaching practice, as well as developing your practical and theoretical knowledge of coaching and sports development.
A PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check must be completed as part of this course, you will be required to pay for this. Further information will be provided at your ‘Information and Interview Session’.
Full Time 2 or 3 days per week, additional hours for work experience and attendance in the evening may be required.
A HNC Coaching and Developing Sport qualification along with a positive reference.
Information and Interview Session Requirements
Progressing students from Dumfries and Galloway College will not be required to attend an Interview session, however, you will be required to pass the HNC with a positive learner reference.
For external applicants; during your information and interview session, you will be expected to provide positive responses to questions relating to your course choice, your future career and your previous experiences in sport & fitness.
Once we have received your application you will be given a date and time slot to take part in a phone interview. You must confirm your interview.

On successful completion of the course you can progress to university. Dependent on the university you may be able to gain entry to 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of study on related degree programmes.
