Introduction

f you are interested in a career in the construction industry then this is the course for you, this is an exciting opportunity to take that first step to a career that is both satisfying and rewarding. The predominantly practical-based course provides an insight into several important construction trades (bricklaying, decorative painting, carpentry and joinery, and plumbing) and covers a variety of skills in trades specific Units — helping learners to make informed choices regarding a career in construction. Learners will also develop skills and attitudes that enhance employability, not just for the construction industry, but employment generally (e.g setting goals, reflecting, and learning from experience, time-keeping).

Entry Requirements

No formal academic qualifications are required however applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to work at SCQF level 4.

Information and Interview Session Requirements

There are no requirements for an interview for this course, but you should have a basic knowledge and an interest in the construction industry with a view to potentially looking to have a career within it if you would like to join this course.

This interest should be demonstrated within your application form.

Content will include fully practical classes where you will get an experience of learning basic practices from the following 4 construction craft trades


  • Bricklaying
    Carpentry & Joinery
    Plumbing
    Plastering

Continual practical assessment.

Progression

Automatic entry will be granted to any College Academy candidate looking to enrol on a full-time construction course for the next academic year providing that you have displayed the appropriate level of commitment, attitude, and passion to progress with a career in the construction industry and you are able to meet the entry criteria.
