Dumfries and Galloway College is delighted to announce the appointment of Danielle Fox as its new Director of Learning and Teaching.
Bringing a wealth of experience in science education, land-based studies and curriculum design, Danielle holds a degree in Biomedical Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Behaviour and Welfare.
Her career began teaching science in secondary schools across West Yorkshire before moving into further education at Craven College in Skipton, North Yorkshire. There, she worked as a Lecturer in Animal and Equine Science, teaching to degree level and leading the design and development of higher education provision.
She later progressed to Head of Department, where she managed a wide-ranging curriculum portfolio that included Science, A Levels, Access to Higher Education, and all Land-Based provision, alongside apprenticeships, full-time programmes and commercial activity.

Danielle led the strategic development of science laboratories and extensive land-based facilities, overseeing teams across an equestrian competition centre, animal management unit, motor vehicle and agricultural engineering workshops as well as countryside provision.
A key feature of her leadership was the drive to create industry-responsive programmes, ensuring that education remained relevant and employer-led. By collaborating with partners such as local estates and rural employers, she successfully secured funding to help apprentices gain industry-recognised qualifications, supporting learners into work.
Outside of her professional life, Danielle is firmly rooted in rural living. A keen equestrian, she has competed in British Dressage, owns six working dogs with her partner, and actively supports rural sports.
Speaking on her appointment, Danielle Fox, Director of Learning and Teaching, Dumfries and Galloway College, said: “Moving to Scotland has been a dream for many years. I’ve been warmly welcomed into Dumfries and Galloway College and the culture here is fantastic.
“In my new role, I’m working with an inspiring team of curriculum managers and looking forward to the challenges ahead as we shape a more immersive, responsive curriculum to meet the needs of our students and the community.”
Phil Storrier, Vice Principal Curriculum and Student Experience, Dumfries and Galloway College, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Danielle to the team. Her extensive experience in curriculum innovation ─ particularly in science and land-based sectors ─ along with her passion for employer collaboration, aligns perfectly with our strategic goals.
“She will play a key role in advancing our commitment to high-quality, relevant education that supports the growth and prosperity of our region.”
