South of Scotland MSP Congratulates College on High Pass Results

Figures published by the Scottish Funding Council, found that that 82 percent of higher national students had passed their qualifications.

The college’s completion pass rate for higher national students was found to be the highest in the country.

Dumfries and Galloway College also ranked among the top ten in Scotland for students studying full-time further education courses.

On both measures of achievement, the college performed well above the national sector performance and was found to have made significant improvements since the last time figures were recorded in 2018-19.

Dumfries and Galloway College joins with its leadership team, staff, students, and its wider community in celebrating this fantastic set of results.

The college also thanks Ms Harper for her kind words and for the support she has shown it throughout her time as an MSP.

South Scotland SNP MSP, Emma Harper, said:

“I was pleased to raise a motion to the Scottish Parliament to celebrate the fantastic news that Dumfries and Galloway College has both become the top college in Scotland for full-time higher education passes and has been placed in the top ten for students studying full-time courses in both further and higher education.

“These achievements are down to the hard work of college staff, students, and brilliant Principal, Joanna Campbell.

“I am also writing to the Scottish Government’s Education Secretary to highlight this achievement for Dumfries and Galloway and I will ask her to visit the college when she can.”

Principal Joanna Campbell said:

“Emma has been a good friend and keen supporter of Dumfries and Galloway for several years and we’re grateful to her for her warm words and the lovely motion she has submitted to Parliament about us.

“Working with local politicians, businesses, the third sector, and other stakeholders is key to our success and we will continue to work in this collaborative way in the future.

“I also want to reiterate my thanks to our students and staff for playing their role in helping us achieve this wonderful set of results.”
