Introduction

The Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Bullying in Children and Young People is an ideal course for anyone wanting to understand bullying better and learn effective prevention strategies. You’ll explore relevant legislation, discover the impacts bullying has on children and young people, and gain valuable insights into cyberbullying, a growing concern.

This anti-bullying training will empower you to foster a safe, bully-free environment for young people.

During your time with the Dumfries & Galloway College, support is always available whenever you need it. Each learner is paired with a dedicated personal tutor who will grade all assignments and provide comprehensive feedback for every submission.

Suitable for those learners aged 19 or above who have a good level of communication skills.

You can only study one course at a time.

Course Content

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles of Bullying
Learn the definitions of bullying, cyberbullying, and discrimination, and explore the context in which bullying occurs. Examine both the short-term and long-term effects bullying can have on children and young people.

Unit 2: Identifying Bullying in Children and Young People
Recognize individuals who may be vulnerable to bullying and the signs that indicate a child or young person may be experiencing it. Explore the potential reasons why children and young people may engage in bullying behavior, helping to address the underlying causes.

Unit 3: Responding to Bullying in Children and Young People
Evaluate the appropriate actions to take when a child or young person is being bullied, including how to support the victim and approach the bully to resolve the situation.

Unit 4: Understanding Government Guidelines on Bullying
Gain a thorough understanding of key anti-bullying legislation, such as The Equality Act 2010, and explore government and Ofsted policies and guidance aimed at preventing bullying and addressing its impact.

Assessments

This course requires the completion and passing of four tutor marked online unit assessments. Learners are allocated a course tutor who will mark assessments and are able to offer support through the online learning platform.
