Introduction

The AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping is the perfect starting point for anyone looking to begin a career in accountancy or finance, or for those already working in finance who want to formally recognise their skills. This qualification provides a strong foundation in manual bookkeeping, helping students develop the practical skills needed to perform everyday accounting tasks with confidence.

Students will learn how to carry out typical bookkeeping transactions, understand the relationship between different accounting records, and gain insight into how accounting software can automate many processes. This makes it ideal for people returning to work, changing careers, or looking to progress within finance roles.

The qualification covers two core units: Introduction to Bookkeeping and Principles of Bookkeeping Controls, combining hands-on practice with an understanding of key financial processes. On completion, students will be prepared for roles such as Clerical Assistant, Trainee Bookkeeper, Accounts Clerk, Finance Assistant, or Accounts Administrator, and can progress to higher-level bookkeeping or accounting qualifications.

Whether you are starting your finance career or building on existing knowledge, the Level 2 Certificate equips you with essential bookkeeping skills and confidence for the workplace.
