  • Access to technology: As this is an online course, learners must have access to a device

You can only study one course at a time.

Course Content

he qualification is structured into four key units:

  1. Using Counselling Skills

    • Identify and practise core counselling skills.
    • Understand how to establish and maintain a helping relationship.
    • Explore boundaries and ethical considerations in counselling.

  2. Introduction to Counselling Skills Theories

    • Learn the principles of psychodynamic, person-centred, and CBT approaches.
    • Compare theoretical models and understand their practical applications.

  3. Diversity and Ethics in the Use of Counselling Skills

    • Understand anti-discriminatory practice and ethical frameworks.
    • Explore how to address diversity in counselling settings.

  4. Counselling Skills and Personal Development

    • Reflect on personal values, beliefs, and qualities.
    • Develop self-awareness and identify areas for growth in helping relationships.

Assessments

Online Learning with Online Assessment:

  • Learners complete assessments through The Skills Network’s online platform.
  • For Unit 4 (Counselling Skills and Personal Development), learners must:
    • Either film themselves demonstrating specific counselling skills, or
    • Provide a witness statement from a qualified individual.
