Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, but the course is best suited to individuals who:
- Are currently working in a supervisory or team-leading role.
- Aspire to move into management positions.
- Have some experience managing people, projects, or resources.
Additional Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for CMI Level 3 Award in Principles of Management and Leadership. However, the qualification is ideally suited to:
- Practising or aspiring first-line managers, team leaders, or supervisors.
- Individuals who are currently working in a role where they can apply management and leadership principles.
- Learners who wish to develop their professional edge, improve personal effectiveness, and gain a recognised qualification to support career progression.
Course Content
Learners will complete a combination of units totalling 13–20 credits to achieve the Certificate. The default units offered are:

Unit 301: Principles of Management and Leadership (7 credits)
Understand the foundations of effective leadership, organisational structures, and the manager’s role in achieving results. -
Unit 302: Managing a Team to Achieve Results (6 credits)
Learn how to set objectives, monitor performance, and motivate teams to deliver outcomes.
Alternative units may be available depending on learner needs or organisational goals.
CMI Level 3 Qualifications – Credit Requirements
Award: 6 credits (1 unit), Approximately 50 Total Qualification Time
Certificate: 13 Credits (2-3 Units), Approximately 130 Total Qualification Time
Diploma: 37 Credits (6+ Units), Approximately 370 Total Qualification Time

- Assessment Method: Written assignments for each unit.
- Format: Structured responses based on workplace scenarios.
Progression
Upon completion of the Certificate, learners can progress to:
- CMI Level 3 Diploma in Management and Leadership
Requires a total of 37 credits (6+Units) allowing learners to build on their knowledge with additional units covering areas such as stakeholder relationships, project delivery, and personal development.
