Smash Global is at the forefront of change in training for the dance industry. We are the facilitators of a new, pioneering creative arts dance business and wellbeing course that has been created in collaboration with global leaders in the profession. We aim to level up the training standards and opportunities within the South West of Scotland and beyond.

Entry Requirements
Dance experience is desirable, but all students are required to attend or submit a video audition. There will then be an interview. Dance qualifications and previous dance experience will be considered. We are looking at your potential to train as a professional dancer in a supportive, creative industry experienced environment.

Practical: Please present two styles 1-2 mins in length. One should be in a commercial style, the other in a style of your choice, showcasing what you love and what you can do. Dancers are requested to wear all black. We are happy for you to change to present the two opposing pieces. Please can videos be shot in landscape. Because of the size of files, we recommend you upload to a platform such as Vimeo and add the link to your application form.

Course Content
The Scotland foundation course includes mindfulness, fitness, technique classes, master classes with global commercial dance professionals (creating dance for the West End, Cruise Ships, Artist World Tours, Choreographers TV, Theatre, Film)
The course includes a training program in Los Angeles, Including performing at a prestigious LA Dance event, gaining real-world experience in a global setting and showcasing your talent on an international stage. SMASH will cover: flights, accommodation and all the workshops/studio time in Los Angeles.
Students will need to provide money for food, spends and get themselves to and from the UK airport destination.
Business training: Contracts, tax & self-employment. This is the course to kick start your career as a commercial dancer.
Assessments
Ongoing formative feedback, practical summative assessments, anatomy and contextual studies.
Progression
Dancer’s post-graduation may continue onto a HND or BA Hons in dance/creative industries.
Dancers may also begin working professionally in the commercial dance industry.

We prioritise mindfulness, body positivity and ensuring the pressures of auditions, training and being self-employed are given strategies to apply to a career in the creative arts industry.
