Introduction
This course is perfect if you are looking to get in to work but are unsure what work would be suitable for you or lack the confidence or experience and would like some support to help you to get that job.
We aim to provide you with a programme of study and experience which develops not only your confidence, practical skills for life, but has a strong focus on enabling you to develop skills for employability, independent/supported living, self-advocacy, working with others and citizenship.
During the programme you will develop transferable, and marketable job skills. The programme will offer you the opportunity to develop confidence, independence and self-esteem. On the programme you will receive the following:
- work-based individual instruction coaching
- support, and feedback from your instructor and job coach
- Internship/s within a business setting
- Help and guidance from managers and mentors during your internships.

Duration
Full Time 5 days per week. You will have one full day class-based lesson, some online learning, and full work experience during your internship on the remaining days.
Entry Requirements
No formal academic qualifications are required. You may progress directly from school or the community or from college LifeSkills programmes but must be able to work at Access 3/ Level 3.
Applicants are required to be 16 years of age at the start of the course.
All applicants must attend an interview session prior to being offered a place on the appropriate course and demonstrate capacity to be considered for potential employment opportunities.
Information and Interview Session Requirements
This is a key aspect of the application process. You must confirm your attendance should you be offered an information and interview session.
During the information and interview session, we will ensure the entry requirements and your aspirations and career plan are appropriate for the course and the level of course you have applied for. It is therefore important that you prepare well for this.
Your interview and information session may be face to face, or online through TEAMS or by phone.
Course Content
This programme aims to provide you with opportunities to obtain internships working with a host employer to develop employability skills. You will also have the opportunity to achieve employability awards and essential skills certification.
The emphasis of this programme is on developing your skills which enable you to work towards employment independence and self-development.
The programme creates strong networks to support adults with additional needs to flourish in a real workplace environment. While the main aim of the programme is to support participants to gain employment there are also opportunities to gain qualifications related to employability, numeracy and literacy and promoting independence including the Bronze, Silver, or Gold Employability Award.
Assessments
Continuous and ongoing throughout the programme. Assessment is based on practical skills gained during internship, employability skills, and building portfolios of evidence.
Progression
The aim is to secure employment at the end of this programme.
