SVQ in Professional Cookery at SCQF Level 4

Introduction

This SVQ is designed for individuals working as trainee chefs in a team environment, who are involved with the preparation/cooking of meals & snacks for customers. Workplaces can include cafes, restaurants, hotels, canteens or residential homes.
Upon successful completion, you will gain a recognised qualification which guarantees you have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out your role competently.

Entry Requirements

  • Be employed in a in a kitchen environment
  • Must be carrying out relvant tasks and activities which will allow you to naturally gather evidence for your SVQ portfolio
  • Have completed your probationary period within your current work role
  • Demonstrate an ability to work at SCQF level 4 or above

Course Content

This qualification covers areas such as workplace health and safety; food safety; standards of behaviour in hospitality; team working; and preparing and cooking a wide range of ingredients. To achieve this SVQ, you are required to complete 7 units; 4 mandatory units and 3 optional units. Your assessor will support you in choosing the units that best match your work role.

Assessments

Assessments will be ongoing with an Assessor coming out to the workplace to carry out practical observations.
