This unit is designed to give learners practical skills in reading, writing, listening and talking.

This qualification is generally accepted as an alternative to Higher English, especially if combined with Literature 1 and is recognised by Universities and Teacher Training Colleges.

Entry Requirements

A good level of English is required for this course.  You may be asked to undertake a diagnostic to check your level of English prior to enrolling upon this course.

Additional Entry Requirements

Ideally candidates will already hold Intermediate 2 / Communication 3 / standard grade credit level English.

As there will be online learning, webinars and Teams meetings throughout the course appropriate technology will be required to undertake your studies.

Course Content

This unit is designed to give practice skills in reading, writing, listening and talking with equal weight given to all four areas.

Assessments

Assessments must be undertaken under exam conditions.

Additional funding information

If you are in receipt of certain state benefits such as Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, DLA, Working tax Credit, Universal Credit etc you may qualify for up to £200 worth of support via an SDS Individual Training Account (ITA).
