The aim of this course is to give you the experience of a salon environment and the opportunity to learn about the different roles and responsibilities in beauty therapy. This course is aimed at senior phase schools who are still at school and are thinking of embarking on beauty career. Completing the Level 4 units would be a fantastic transition from school into college and would support a young person get ready for employment within the beauty industry. You will be learning beauty practical skills which includes facials, nails and Makeup. This will equip you with the skills and confidence to apply for beauty to develop employability skills and attitudes valued by employers.
Minimum entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but an interest in the industry would be favoured.
If English is not your first language you will be required to have ESOL Intermediate 2.

Attending a course information session.
Information and Interview Session Requirements
Once we have received your application you will be asked to attend an informal information and interview session. This may be virtual either through TEAMS or by phone but remember to tell us all about yourself in your personal statement!
This is a key aspect of the application process. You must confirm your attendance should you be offered an appointment.
During the information and interview session, we will ensure the entry requirements and your aspirations and career plan are appropriate for the course and the level of course you have applied for. It is therefore important that you prepare well for this.
You will study a range of units:
Creative Nail Finishes to Hand and Feet
A Level 4 or 5 Beauty or Hairdressing course
You would have the skills to go into the industry as a Modern Apprentice or employment

Gaining a college level qualification while you are still at school looks good on your applications forcollege, university, a modern apprenticeship, or a job. The qualification will help you demonstrate your skills and knowledge in a specific subject area, making you a more desirable candidate for work in the industry. The emphasis is on developing basic skills which will be attractive to future employers both within and outwith the hairdressing and beauty industries. You may also be able to progress to a higher level qualification at college, giving you a head start when you have left school.
There are no formal entrance requirements, to get the best out of this course you should enjoy working in a creative environment and have a real interest in the beauty and hair industry. You should also enjoy the challenge of getting to know new people and you must be able to commit to consistent, full attendance throughout the course.
You should be prepared to participate as a model for fellow students which will require you to have your make up removed and applied and also have your fingernails and toenails painted.
