Certificate in Drug Awareness

Introduction

The Level 2 Certificate in Drug Awareness Studies and their Applications course is appropriate for the widest possible range of candidates, including anyone wanting to learn more about drug issues, those working with substance mis-users, and people in support work roles, such as youth work, counselling or community work.

The target group for this award are healthcare professionals working in the sector and also anyone wishing to increase their knowledge and skills within this area.

Course Content

The qualification will help learners develop awareness of the key issues around drug use and misuse. It aims to provide a qualification in drug awareness at intermediate level and has been signposted against the Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards. The award consists of five mandatory units: Unit 1: Understand drug use/misuse Unit 2: Recognise and respond to drug use/misuse Unit 3: Communicate with young people about drugs Unit 4: Work with communities Unit 5: Show awareness of issues concerning alcohol use/misuse

Assessments

All unit assessments are within the course materials and should be completed and posted into the Open Learning Unit for tutor marking and feedback.
