Cyber Security NPA @ SCQF Level 5

Introduction

If you want to have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge for further study for entry into a career into the vast world of Cyber, then this is the course for you!

The course provides you with the foundation knowledge and skills in Cyber Security. You will develop skills relevant to the use of Data Security, Digital Forensics and Ethical Hacking so you become aware of the potential misuses of, and unauthorised access to computer systems, but who use these competences for legal and ethical purposes.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required; however, it is desirable that students possess one of the following:

Core Skills in ICT or Numeracy at SCQF Level 4/5

National Units in Computing or Maths

Information and Interview Session Requirements

There are no requirements for an interview for this course, but you should have a basic knowledge and an interest in the industry with a view to potentially looking to have a career within it if you would like to join this course.

Course Content

The programme offers you the opportunity to attain the SQA National Progression Award in Cyber Security.

Units covered are Data Security, Digital Forensics and Ethical Hacking.

Assessments

There is no formal exam. You will be required to undertake continual assessments throughout the year. These will take the form of written, oral, team projects and role play

Progression

Completion of the course may lead to progression to Advanced Computing at SCQF Level 6 and future study such as HNC Cyber Security or entry into the Batchelor of Engineering Cyber Security degree (in partnership with UWS).

Career Prospects

Through further study students could access career opportunities such as Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Systems Analyst.
