Course Content
Unit 1: Understand Diabetes
Explore the functions of glucose and insulin within the body and gain an understanding of the different types of diabetes, including their causes and associated risk factors. This unit also examines how diabetes develops and the impact it can have on overall health and wellbeing.
Unit 2: Prevention and Early Intervention of Type 2 Diabetes
Learn about the prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes, including how healthy lifestyle choices can reduce the risk of developing the condition. This unit focuses on the importance of diet, physical activity, weight management, and early support strategies.
Unit 3: Understand the Initial Care of Diabetes
Investigate the methods used to monitor and manage diabetes following diagnosis. This unit also considers the emotional, mental, and physical effects a diabetes diagnosis may have on individuals and the importance of person-centred support and care.
Unit 4: Understand Treatment and Management of Diabetes
Develop knowledge of the ongoing care and treatment used to control blood glucose levels and support long-term health. This unit also explores how to identify, prevent, and manage potential complications associated with diabetes.
Assessments
This course requires the completion and passing of four tutor marked online unit assessments. Learners are allocated a course tutor who will mark assessments and are able to offer support through the online learning platform.
