Introduction



This qualification is designed for learners who wish to develop an understanding of autism and how to support individuals with autism. It is useful for learners who provide direct support and those working in sectors such as: health and social care; education and training, and nursing. It will also be useful to those who support a family member or friend with autism.

Course Content

Candidates will gain an understanding of the characteristics of the different forms of autism. They will then go on to explore the principles of supporting individuals with autism, such as using a person-centred approach and positive communication methods. Learners will gain an appreciation of how individuals with autism can be supported to live healthy and fulfilled lives.

The course also provides employers with a structured training programme that will meet the training needs of their employees, giving peace of mind that staff are equipped with the knowledge they need to effectively support individuals with autism.

Assessments

Assessments are all within the packs and can be completed at home. Once complete, you will submit them to your allocated tutor to mark and provide feedback.
