Gaining these skills opens up employment opportunities in Health and Social Care roles and provides valuable training for those working in Education.

Course Content
Unit 1: Understanding Challenging Behaviour
Explore how certain behaviours are perceived as challenging and uncover the underlying factors that influence them. Understand the effect that challenging behaviour can have on those around them.
Unit 2: Supporting Positive Behaviour
Identify behavioural changes and triggers that may lead to escalation. Learn about strategies and support plans that encourage positive behaviour, while also gaining knowledge of the legislation that safeguards individual rights.
Unit 3: The Role of Communication in Managing Challenging Behaviour
Understand how effective communication can influence the management of challenging behaviours. Explore how techniques like positive reinforcement can help de-escalate difficult situations.
Unit 4: The Importance of Reflection and Support for Those Involved in Challenging Behaviour Incidents
Recognise the value of reflecting on incidents involving challenging behaviour. This unit emphasises understanding the consequences of your actions and prioritising self-care and well-being.
Assessments
This course requires the completion and passing of four tutor marked online unit assessments. Learners are allocated a course tutor who will mark assessments and are able to offer support through the online learning platform.
